The Slavic Dances of A. Dvorak result from the order of F.Simrock, who sought to obtain some income from the emerging nationalist fascination in the late 19th century. Dating from 1878, the first cycle, of mere folk inspiration, dictated that Simrock request another set of dances, was only completed in 1887. This soft polka is characterized by an episode with a faster rhythm, including a busy transition from the trio to re-exposure.
